Finland Is Offering Singles a Free 4-Day Getaway in 2027 – How to Apply 🇫🇮

Finland’s tourism board is giving away a free trip, and the prize is a dinner. Visit Finland is running a campaign called Finnish Dinner Date. It is a blind group date for singles from around the world. Sixteen people will fly to Finland in February 2027, all expenses paid, to share a tasting menu with strangers.

You don’t need to speak Finnish or be a food expert. You do need to be single, and you need to be quick. There are only four days left.

What Is the Finnish Dinner Date?

Finland keeps getting called the happiest country in the world, and the tourism board is making the most of it. It says Finnish food is Europe’s last undiscovered cuisine. It also says you might meet someone, and it jokes that you should skip the dating apps for a week.

The dinners are part of the “Have Some Finnish” campaign. Earlier this year, the board asked people across Finland which dishes best represent their regions. Some of the country’s best-known chefs then turned those answers into four national tasting menus. Two were served to a group of travelers in September. The other two, from the Helsinki region and Lakeland, are the ones you would be eating.

The full campaign details are on the official site, FinnishDinnerDate.com.

What Do Winners Get?

  • 16 winners in total, with eight seats at each of two dinners.
  • Two local Finnish singles at each dinner, so you sit with other travelers and people who live there.
  • Two possible cities: Helsinki, the seaside capital, or Tampere, a lively city in the Lakeland region.
  • A four-day, all-expenses-paid trip between 9 and 19 February 2027, with a hosted program of activities and meals before the group dinner.

You can’t choose your city. The organizers tell you after you’re selected, and they call it your first “surprise match.”

The Campaign Quiz

The campaign site has a short quiz to help you guess which city suits you. The first question asks what you would eat first after landing: creamy salmon soup, fried vendace, black sausage with lingonberry jam, or a warm sugar doughnut.

Who Can Apply?

Reports on the campaign say you must be at least 18, single, and not a Finnish citizen or resident. Visit Finland counts you as single if you’re not in a relationship or you’re free to date. The FAQ on the official site has the exact wording on age limits and how singles status is verified, so read it before you apply.

How to Apply for the Finnish Dinner Date

Your entry comes down to one question: “What would you serve on a dinner date, and why?”

Step 1: Record Your Video

Film a short video in English answering the question.

Step 2: Post It Online

Post the video on one of three platforms. Use the hashtag #FinnishDinnerDate and tag the organizers:

If you post on Instagram or TikTok, your account must be public so the organizers can watch your entry. If you’d rather keep a low profile, upload the video to YouTube as Unlisted. Only people with the link can see it, and you can still submit that link.

Step 3: Submit the Application Form

Fill in the form on the Visit Finland website and include the link to your video. You can reach it through FinnishDinnerDate.com.

You need both the video and the form. An entry missing either one won’t be considered.

Deadline and Results

Entries close on Tuesday, 10 November 2026, at 11:59 a.m. Finnish time (UTC+2). Late entries won’t be considered.

That is 9:59 a.m. UTC. In some other time zones:

  • Pakistan: 2:59 p.m. on 10 November
  • India: 3:29 p.m. on 10 November
  • Philippines: 5:59 p.m. on 10 November

If you’re selected, the organizers will contact you personally. The public announcement comes on 1 December 2026 on Visit Finland’s Instagram and TikTok accounts.

You won’t get a confirmation email after you submit. Take a screenshot of your entry so you have a record.

Visa and Travel Documents: Sort This Out Early

A free trip is no use if you can’t enter the country. Finland is part of the Schengen Area, and depending on your passport you may need a short-stay Schengen visa.

  • Passport validity. Check your expiry date today. Schengen countries generally expect a passport that stays valid well past your travel dates.
  • Visa requirement. Look up whether your nationality needs a short-stay visa for Finland on the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) website.
  • Embassy and visa center. Find your nearest Finnish mission through Finland Abroad.
  • Timing. Winners are announced on 1 December and the trip starts in mid-February. Visa appointments can take weeks in some countries, so gather your documents before you hear back.

Rules change, so confirm everything with Migri or the embassy directly.

Read the Fine Print

The campaign site has a long FAQ covering age limits, applying with a friend, accessibility, dietary needs, and what happens if a winner can’t travel. Read it, along with the full terms and conditions, before you submit. Winners get flights, accommodation, meals and activities covered, but no separate payment for taking part.
