Role overview

Kpler is expanding its trade intelligence platform to cover North American inland supply chains beyond its existing maritime focus. As a Backend Engineer on the founding Connected Supply Chain team, you will develop and maintain core services that transform sensor data from field hardware into real-time insights for clients in the commodities and energy sectors.

Key responsibilities

Build and operate streaming ingestion pipelines that process telemetry data from remote sensors across crude pipelines, rail networks, and waterways.
Design and develop robust APIs that enable customers to access connected supply chain intelligence.
Create user-facing features that integrate inland infrastructure data with Kpler’s existing maritime tracking capabilities.
Own the full lifecycle of services you build, operating them in production with a high-autonomy model.
Ensure data flows seamlessly from field sensors through to customer-facing platforms, providing a unified view of supply chains from production to export points.

Requirements

Backend software engineering experience with proven ability to design and deploy production systems.
Proficiency in building and maintaining data pipelines and streaming architectures.
Strong API design and development skills.
Experience operating services in production environments and taking ownership of system reliability.
Familiarity with handling telemetry and sensor data at scale.
