Role overview

Analog is seeking a backend engineer to join its engineering team in Abu Dhabi. You will design and build backend services that reliably transfer data between cloud systems and edge or device environments across multiple network protocols, working on systems that operate in real production conditions rather than controlled, fully-online settings.

Key responsibilities

Design and build backend services that move data reliably between cloud systems and edge or device environments, supporting multiple network protocols.
Containerize and deploy services that run consistently across both cloud and edge deployment scenarios.
Work directly with engineers building the physical and product components to understand and support backend requirements.
Investigate and resolve production issues including latency, dropped connections, and data consistency problems across unreliable network links.
Harden and improve systems already running in production, balancing new development with maintenance of existing services.

Requirements

Three to five years of backend development experience building and running large-scale services in production environments.
Strong hands-on proficiency in at least two of the following languages: Java, Python, or Kotlin, with openness to other programming languages.
Real production experience with cloud services and edge compute, including moving data across multiple network protocols.
Hands-on experience with containerized development and ideally with cloud-to-edge deployment patterns.
Comfort working within agile methodologies and continuous integration as part of a small, fast-moving team.
Ability to own substantial pieces of work independently while remaining open to learning from colleagues.
