Role overview

BEUMER Group operates automated baggage handling systems at airports worldwide, and this position supports those operations at Calgary Airport. As a Baggage Service Associate, you will work in the baggage handling system operations team, ensuring baggage flows smoothly through check-in, sorting, and departure processes while maintaining system integrity and responding to any operational disruptions.

Key responsibilities

Induct baggage onto the system via in-feed points following established procedures and protocols.
Address jams immediately upon detection and verify that no system damage has occurred after clearing the blockage.
Monitor and clear blockages that impede baggage flow throughout the system.
Scan each bag and switch to keyboard entry mode when bags fail to scan, then escalate issues to the Control Room as needed.
Perform manual baggage handling operations when system failures occur.
Report recurring jams on conveyor belts and sorting equipment to supervisors and system controllers.

Requirements

A valid RAIC Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Possession of a Technical Certificate.
Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, push, and pull materials regularly.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and solve problems quickly.
Capacity to follow procedures independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
Prior baggage handling or airport operations experience is valued but not mandatory; material handling equipment experience is preferred but also not required.
