Role overview

This Chief Engineer position focuses on traffic management and infrastructure coordination in Sharjah. You will oversee traffic diversions, road closures, and transportation planning for major projects, working closely with government departments, contractors, and external agencies to maintain safe and efficient road networks.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and authorize temporary access points on major streets in coordination with the relevant Department.
• Study and assess traffic diversions for large metro construction projects and implement necessary technical modifications.
• Conduct field inspections of traffic diversion schemes and road projects, then document findings in formal reports.
• Prepare technical traffic reports for management that address project-specific requirements and conditions.
• Review and issue permits for temporary road and bridge closures during maintenance or emergency situations.
• Develop routing studies to accommodate heavy transport vehicle movements across the network.
• Analyze plans for events and activities with potential traffic impact, coordinating with relevant authorities.
• Review consultant and engineer submissions regarding traffic diversions and monitor project implementation compliance.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external organizations including police, government bodies, and private sector entities to maintain network integrity and public safety.
• Maintain strict adherence to information security policies and data handling procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in a related engineering field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Architecture from a recognized university.
• Demonstrated experience in traffic management, road infrastructure, or transportation planning.
• Strong coordination and communication skills to liaise with multiple departments and external agencies.
• Ability to prepare technical reports and review engineering plans and blueprints.
• Commitment to information security protocols and data protection standards.
