About the Cybersecurity Engineer Role
Position Summary
The Cybersecurity Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving security controls to safeguard the organization’s IT infrastructure, applications, and data against cyber threats. This role also ensures ongoing compliance with security standards, supports incident response efforts, and works to strengthen the hospital’s overall security posture.
Summary of Main Duties
- Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity solutions across networks, systems, endpoints, and cloud platforms.
- Monitor security alerts and investigate suspicious activity using SIEM tools and other security platforms.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and track remediation efforts.
- Lead and support incident response activities, including root cause analysis and detailed reporting.
- Implement and manage identity and access controls, including IAM, MFA, and PAM.
- Secure servers, endpoints, virtualization environments, VDI, and IoT systems.
Responsibilities
- Support cloud security configurations and ongoing posture management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with IT, application, and business teams to embed security by design.
- Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and evolving security technologies.
- Configure and manage firewalls, switches, routers, access points, and NAC technologies.
- Oversee network-related hardware and software upgrades, patching, and general maintenance.
- Manage Avaya Unified Communication systems.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Professional cybersecurity certifications preferred, such as CEH, Security+, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or Azure/AWS Security.
- Relevant training or practical hands-on experience in security engineering.
- 3–7 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or broader IT security roles.
- Practical experience working with enterprise-level security tools and platforms.
- Experience within regulated industries such as Healthcare, Government, or Finance is considered an advantage.
