Role overview

As Data Science Manager at Xero, you will lead a small team of three Data Scientists within the Marketing Data Science group while staying actively involved in data work yourself. You will manage team members based in Australia, the UK, and South Africa, while personally owning marketing measurement responsibilities for North America. Your insights will directly influence how quickly and confidently marketing decisions are made across the organization.

Key responsibilities

Manage and mentor a team of three Data Scientists spread across multiple regions and time zones, establishing operating rhythms that support collaboration and sustainable delivery.
Lead campaign and event measurement initiatives for North America, providing marketing teams with clear visibility into what is working and where investment should be directed.
Conduct churn analysis and funnel effectiveness work that shapes acquisition, retention, engagement and personalization strategies.
Integrate AI-driven insight generation and agentic analytics into daily delivery to reduce time spent on report assembly and increase focus on business-moving questions.
Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders across local and global teams.
Work with SQL, Python, BigQuery, Google Analytics, Mixpanel and GTM platforms to build dashboards and visualizations that drive genuine decision-making.

Requirements

Practical experience in marketing measurement across campaigns, events, churn analysis and funnel effectiveness.
Working knowledge of SQL, solid proficiency in Python, and a strong foundation in statistics, experimentation and causal thinking.
Familiarity with Google Analytics, Mixpanel and BigQuery as part of your regular toolkit.
Demonstrated ability to coach and support people across different time zones and manage distributed teams effectively.
Excellent communication skills that adapt between technical and non-technical audiences, and between local and global contexts.
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to shape team priorities and direction independently.
