Role overview
Scale is seeking a Deployment Strategist to lead artificial intelligence integration for Space Systems Command, translating advanced AI research into mission-critical space operations. This is an expansion role designed to convert Scale’s existing Air Force and space-adjacent work into core Space Force business, focusing on deploying autonomous AI systems across space domain awareness, ground modernization, and tasking operations.
Key responsibilities
- Carry and exceed a multi-million dollar annual revenue quota while owning the complete sales lifecycle from opportunity identification through contract award and revenue recognition.
- Execute tactical work personally, including drafting white papers, leading SBIR and OTA responses, developing complex proposals, and structuring deals within the space acquisition landscape.
- Lead operational transition after contract signature by serving as the primary account contact, working with Engagement Managers, Technical Program Managers, Engineers, and Product teams to ensure pilots scale into full deployments.
- Develop long-term account strategy across Space Systems Command’s Program Executive Offices by identifying follow-on use cases, securing additional funding, and expanding single deployments into enterprise standards.
- Partner with technical teams and operators to co-design Agentic AI workflows, translating operational mission problems into specific technical requirements for engineering teams.
- Manage and negotiate with Tier 1 Systems Integrators and space primes to position Scale as the agentic AI foundation within larger programs, leading discussions on subcontracting and teaming agreements.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in space operations, government acquisitions, complex enterprise IT sales, or defense business development, with particular value given to prior service in the Space Force or Air Force space programs.
- Demonstrated success closing and implementing multi-year deals with the ability to secure line items in government budgets.
- Deep knowledge of Space Force modernization priorities including space domain awareness, ground and command-and-control modernization, and resilient architectures, combined with understanding of where AI, machine learning, computer vision, and autonomy create value.
- Proven ability to transition technology from prototype stage into deployed capability within major Program Executive Offices or program offices.
- Established relationships across Space Systems Command and the broader Space Force enterprise, plus existing connections with major space primes and systems integrators.
- Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; technical degree or MBA preferred. Must be based in the Los Angeles area with ability to work on-site or at customer locations three days per week, with proximity to Los Angeles Air Force Base essential. Ability to travel 20–30% of the time required.
