Role overview

Xero is building shared platform services to underpin its product and technology strategy. As Head of Product for AI Shared Services, you will lead the strategy and execution of platform areas including Eventing, Communications, and Search. This role focuses on transforming fragmented tools and experiments into coherent, reusable capabilities that enable Xero’s teams to spend less time on foundational work and more time delivering customer value.

Key responsibilities

Set the strategic direction for the AI Shared Services domain and develop roadmaps for upcoming quarters.
Define key metrics and dashboards to help the business measure progress and success across platform initiatives.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders throughout the business to understand needs and align priorities.
Drive adoption of shared AI capabilities across multiple product and engineering teams over time.
Lead a team that manages the platform foundations powering AI capabilities across Xero, working closely with Product, Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Data and Operations.
Navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex interdependencies to deliver coherent platform solutions.

Requirements

Demonstrated product leadership experience with platform products, infrastructure, developer experience, or enterprise services.
Experience managing a portfolio of interdependent products and making trade-off decisions.
Technical fluency with distributed systems, eventing, communication and data platforms, and cloud environments.
Strong commercial judgement to build compelling cases for investment in shared capabilities.
Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, competing priorities, and dependency complexity.
Track record of growing people and teams, and helping them understand how their work connects to broader organizational goals.
