Role overview
Geotab is a global IoT and connected transportation leader seeking an Integration Hardware Developer to serve as a Hardware Subject Matter Expert in Dubai. You will support the integration of new assets—including refrigeration control units, tachographs, thermographs, and third-party devices—into Geotab’s vehicle connectivity platform, which processes billions of data points daily to help businesses optimize fleet operations and enhance driver safety.
Key responsibilities
- Build in-house proofs of concept and define technical requirements for the Hardware, Firmware, and Mechanical engineering teams.
- Lead pilot installations for new asset integrations and provide technical support throughout integration projects.
- Design and prototype harnesses, enclosures, and tooling while assembling, testing, and adapting units for new vehicle and equipment platforms.
- Reverse engineer electrical, hardware, and communications systems and protocols across physical layers including CAN, K-Line/ISO9141, VPW/PWM, Single Wire CAN, RS-232, and RS-485.
- Collaborate directly with original equipment manufacturers on custom and proprietary data, diagnostics, and third-party device troubleshooting.
- Maintain legacy products, evaluate new field equipment, and support global strategic initiatives with travel commitments up to 25% annually.
Requirements
- Technical engineering education in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, Systems Design, Automotive, Industrial, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience diagnosing vehicle problems using conventional tools such as connector probing, harness building, and circuit testing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle systems, sensors, actuators, control systems, diagnostics, and electrical or communications architecture.
- Strong analytical abilities and excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Scripting or programming knowledge and PCB or harness design experience are valuable assets.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in a flat organizational structure and willingness to travel up to 25% to global locations.
