Role overview
Vosker is a North American leader in remote area surveillance, developing solar-powered, cellular-connected cameras integrated with a proprietary platform. As Product Owner for Embedded Systems & Connected Products, you will own the delivery roadmap and strategic direction for products designed to operate in remote locations without power outlets or Wi-Fi connectivity. You’ll work across multidisciplinary teams in Montréal and Victoriaville, balancing the competing demands of energy autonomy, cellular connectivity, ruggedness, and customer experience.
Key responsibilities
- Own the product delivery roadmap and rollout strategies in partnership with the Product Director, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Translate customer needs, field insights, and market demands into clear, measurable priorities while balancing short-term requirements with long-term platform vision.
- Manage and prioritize the backlog by developing user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with business analysts and solution architects.
- Gather and document functional and non-functional requirements with firmware, electronics, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure integrated product development.
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, release planning, and product demonstrations while coordinating dependencies across hardware, firmware, mobile app, cloud platform, manufacturing partners, and suppliers.
- Participate in design reviews, acceptance testing, and deployment readiness assessments to ensure quality standards are met.
- Drive post-launch stabilization by prioritizing defects, tracking fixes, and managing updates across the installed device fleet using field data, telemetry, diagnostics, and customer feedback.
- Build connected-device security requirements and certification milestones into the product plan as needed.
- Provide visibility on roadmap, risks, and mitigation strategies within physical product development governance, and align technical, operations, marketing, sales, and support teams around the product vision.
Requirements
- Minimum seven years of professional experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or in a hybrid role.
- Hands-on experience developing connected physical products such as cameras, IoT devices, consumer electronics, or embedded systems.
- Solid understanding of firmware and electronics development processes and their technical constraints.
- Proficiency with Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban, as well as Jira and Confluence platforms.
- University degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- Fluency in both French and English, as you will frequently work with contacts outside Quebec.
