Role overview

Aldar seeks an experienced environmental professional to oversee the implementation of environmental management standards and policies across its construction projects in Abu Dhabi. This role ensures all developments comply with Environmental Agency Abu Dhabi requirements, relevant regulations, and ISO 14001 international standards while promoting environmental excellence across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

Develop and implement environmental management systems, policies, and procedures including biodiversity, waste management, climate strategy, and operational efficiency standards aligned with local and international requirements.
Monitor the performance of project management consultants, consultants, and contractors to verify compliance with environmental regulations, permits, construction environmental management plans, and environmental impact assessments.
Oversee the acquisition and maintenance of Environmental NOC permits from the Environmental Protection Authority through project handover.
Ensure that assigned parties collect, analyze, and report environmental performance data related to terrestrial, water, and air quality to relevant authorities.
Coordinate with stakeholders across projects to implement pollution control measures, waste management plans, emergency protocols, recycling initiatives, environmental health safeguards, conservation efforts, and renewable energy strategies.
Conduct regular internal and external audits and inspections to verify effective implementation of environmental policies and track contractor reporting to regulatory bodies.
Collect project data and prepare monthly environmental performance reports and compliance dashboards to support continuous improvement across all developments.
Track evolving legal requirements and advise all stakeholders on necessary compliance adjustments.
Participate in contractor prequalification processes to assess environmental capabilities and requirements.

Requirements

Minimum five years of experience in environmental engineering with a large developer or construction firm.
Prior environmental role experience within a developer, construction firm, project management consultancy, or government sector.
Strong knowledge of the Abu Dhabi and GCC real estate market and local and national environmental regulations.
Demonstrated experience in contractor assessment and qualification regarding environmental compliance.
Fluency in English and Arabic with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Degree in environmental science, engineering, construction, or equivalent environmental diploma.
ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification.
