Role overview

Xero is seeking a Senior Engineer for its Salesforce Platform team, which powers the company’s go-to-market solutions and increasingly serves as core infrastructure for agents. In this role, you will spend most of your time in hands-on engineering work while helping shape how the platform is secured, released and operated. The platform currently maintains 99.95% uptime with 150 to 200 deployments per month.

Key responsibilities

Write, review and maintain code across the Salesforce platform while participating in design reviews and incident response.
Contribute to platform security initiatives including access control, Connected Apps governance and vulnerability remediation.
Support CI/CD and release engineering efforts to enable safe and rapid deployments across teams.
Help grow observability capabilities, manage org limits and prevent customer-facing issues before they occur.
Help develop processes for agent path-to-production, including evaluation baselines, an agent registry and shared standards in this emerging area.
Make code and design decisions that span multiple teams, documenting technical direction through RFCs and design documents.
Mentor senior engineers through code review standards and support their adoption of AI tooling.

Requirements

Hands-on Salesforce development experience at enterprise scale, including code, reviews and production support with a platform engineering mindset.
Proven background owning CI/CD pipelines and release engineering through major release cycles, with demonstrated experience using GitHub, SFDX and test automation.
Experience securing platforms that other teams depend on, and a track record of turning post-incident reviews into lasting improvements.
Ability to make technical decisions across multiple teams and write documentation that builds alignment through persuasion rather than authority.
Skill in mentoring senior engineers and fluency with AI tooling while evolving your own practice as tools develop.
Capacity to translate business goals into technical plans in collaboration with Product teams and comfort pushing back on unclear scope.
