Role overview
Checkout.com powers payments for over one billion global shoppers across major platforms like eBay, Spotify, Uber, and Klarna. As Senior Specialist for Strategic Partnerships in Payments, you’ll build a payments partnership channel from the ground up, sourcing and closing deals with agencies, integrators, and fintech platforms that drive measurable revenue growth.
Key responsibilities
- Source new partners from scratch through cold outreach, industry events, and referrals, targeting agencies, systems integrators, ISVs, fintechs, and consultancies.
- Build the commercial case for partners to recommend Checkout.com ahead of competitors by demonstrating outcomes that matter to their clients, such as acceptance rates and market coverage.
- Secure technical commitments from partners, coordinate engineering integration work, and maintain those integrations as the product evolves.
- Activate signed partners into revenue-producing relationships by mapping their client bases, training their solution architects and account directors, and registering opportunities early in the sales cycle.
- Structure and negotiate referral, reseller, and embedded partnership models across commercial, legal, and operational stakeholders.
- Own revenue targets, including net revenue, total processed volume, product penetration, and conversion rates.
- Act as single point of ownership across Sales, Legal, Product, Partner Engineering, and Marketing to remove blockers and drive partnerships to live production.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience in partnerships, business development, or strategic sales roles.
- Demonstrated background in payments or fintech, either on the processor or merchant side, including gateways, acquirers, PSPs, orchestration platforms, or software with payments capabilities.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand revenue drivers and margin dynamics.
- Solid negotiation skills with the ability to hold firm while advancing complex deals.
- Capability to operate effectively in cross-functional environments with high ambiguity and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
- Resilience for genuine cold outreach and prospecting activities.
- Owner mentality with accountability, performance-driven focus on outcomes rather than activity, and ability to thrive when challenged.
