Role overview
Checkout.com processes over 10 billion transactions annually for major companies like eBay, Spotify, Uber, and Sony. As Strategy and Operations Lead in the CEO Office, you’ll drive execution across a product pillar, keeping delivery on track while building and leading your own S&O team. You’ll work closely with product and engineering leadership to remove blockers, surface risks early, and turn strategic plans into results at scale.
Key responsibilities
- Own execution across your assigned product pillar, maintaining visibility over priorities, delivery pace, dependencies, and risks while identifying when plans go off track.
- Build deep expertise in the pillar’s products, understanding how they work, who they serve, and how they generate revenue.
- Partner with the product leader as a trusted, independent advisor, challenging dates and trade-offs while helping determine what to protect, accelerate, move, or stop.
- Personally lead the pillar’s most critical cross-functional initiatives, aligning Product, Engineering, and partner teams through launch to enable faster shipping.
- Lead and develop your S&O team, including hiring, performance management, and coaching while establishing practical operating standards that improve how S&O delivers across the company.
- Surface risks early and raise the bar for how the broader S&O organization operates based on improvements you drive in your pillar.
Requirements
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, capable of framing ambiguous business questions, building analysis independently, testing hypotheses, and translating findings into clear decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to move fluidly between strategy, hands-on delivery, and organizational building while staying accountable through launch and results.
- Proven capacity to make execution repeatable by designing practical operating mechanisms and applying data, automation, or AI to reduce friction and help teams scale.
- Strong influencing skills without formal authority, including the ability to constructively challenge senior stakeholders, communicate complex issues clearly, and drive people toward decisions.
- Track record of elevating others’ performance through clear expectations, direct feedback, and genuine commitment to their growth; prior formal line-management experience is helpful but evidence of leadership is what matters most.
- Experience in payments, fintech, or regulated money-movement environments is strongly preferred, particularly with licensing, regulatory, or banking relationships, though strong operators from other sectors can also be an excellent fit.
