Role overview
BEUMER Group, an international intralogistics manufacturer, seeks a Technical Field Service Technician based in Edmonton to provide commissioning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support for electro-mechanical and automated control systems. You will work primarily with mining, minerals processing, and bulk material handling operations across North America, ensuring high system reliability and customer satisfaction through on-site and remote technical expertise.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical authority for customers, delivering commissioning, troubleshooting, and post-installation engineering support for mining and mineral processing equipment.
- Commission automated electro-mechanical and control systems for new and modified installations in a timely, professional, and safety-compliant manner.
- Lead the execution and documentation of Site Acceptance Tests in collaboration with Project Managers and customer engineering teams.
- Diagnose, analyze, and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in heavy industrial environments using schematics, wiring diagrams, and control documentation.
- Provide advanced on-site and remote support via phone, email, and secure remote access tools, and support PLC communications and industrial network integration during commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with engineering and product teams; document activities through daily, weekly, and project-based engineering reports.
- Plan and coordinate on-site service visits, preventive maintenance, emergency response, and system upgrades; build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers and multinational engineering teams.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of field service, commissioning, or technical support experience within mining, minerals processing, bulk material handling, or heavy industrial equipment environments.
- Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical and electrical systems, with proven ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and control documentation.
- Hands-on experience commissioning, programming, and troubleshooting automated industrial control systems and PLCs.
- Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent practical experience in electrical, controls, or industrial engineering disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and best practices in mining environments, and experience collaborating with multinational teams and European-based engineering or support organizations.
- Excellent customer-facing communication, coordination, and technical leadership skills, with experience using service management systems such as ServiceNow.
- Ability and willingness to travel 50–80% primarily within North America, with occasional international travel.
