Visa Amnesty: Thousands of Jobs for Expats

Many companies in the UAE are helping expats who have overstayed their visas by offering them a second chance through the ongoing amnesty program. These companies are conducting spot interviews at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) tent in Al Awir, aiming to help expats regularize their status and start fresh in the UAE.

Job Opportunities in Different Fields

Transguard Group, a well-known manpower provider in the UAE, is one of the first to join this initiative. “We’re proud to be part of this important mission,” said Rabie Atieh, CEO of Transguard Group. “Our goal is to hire as many semi-skilled workers as possible across different industries over the next two months during the amnesty period.”

Atieh spoke about how important it is to offer these jobs to people who have had a tough time in the UAE. “We’ll be very happy if we can help people who want to continue living here. We know they’ve been through hard times, and we’re eager to welcome them back. The UAE is a second home to the world,” he added.

Transguard Group has already hired the first person at the GDRFA tent. “We’ll be here for the next two months, looking for more workers to join our team,” Atieh said.

Getting a Second Chance in Dubai

Sobha Constructions, a large real estate company, is also taking part in the amnesty program. Zameer Fareed, head of talent acquisition at Sobha Constructions, shared that the company needs many workers for their ongoing projects.

“We have more than 18 projects, and we need about 18,000 to 20,000 workers, both skilled and unskilled,” said Fareed. “We’re here today to find people who are ready to start working.”

Fareed praised the UAE government’s efforts, saying it helps both the authorities and employers. “This is a big initiative by the government that benefits everyone. We’re getting workers with a clean record, giving them a chance to live their Dubai dream again,” he said.

Sobha Constructions has made the hiring process simple, making sure qualified candidates get a letter of intent during the interview. “Within five working days, their visas will be ready, and they can start working the next week,” said Fareed. He also mentioned that the company will provide food, accommodation, and other support for the new workers.

Jobs for Both Skilled and Unskilled Workers

Hotpack, a company that makes packaging materials in the UAE, is also part of this initiative. Mujeeb Rahman, deputy general manager of operations at Hotpack, said that the company is looking for both skilled and unskilled workers to fill various roles.

“We have factories across the UAE, and we have hundreds of openings for skilled workers like machine operators, technical support, and electricians. We also have jobs for packing, delivery, and helpers,” said Rahman. “We’ll be here for the first 30 days.”

Hotpack has a careful screening process to make sure applicants have an outpass and the right experience. “On the first day, we hired one person with the experience we needed, and we’re hopeful that more will apply in the coming days,” Rahman added.

“We believe there are many people who want to continue living in the UAE,” he said, showing hope for the future.
