Role overview

Coinbase is hiring an Accounting Manager to lead the finance function for Tokenized Equities, a product that enables non-US users to purchase tokens backed 1:1 by US stocks and ETFs through the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This senior individual contributor role involves building the accounting and reporting infrastructure from the ground up for a regulated, blockchain-based financial product.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement the accounting model covering token issuance and redemption, asset tracking, intercompany flows, and the month-end close process.
Own regulatory compliance and reporting obligations to the FSRA, including ongoing communication with regulators, building controlled reporting processes, and responding to ad hoc queries.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Legal, Tax, Compliance, Treasury, FP&A, and Finance Data teams to ensure new transaction flows are accurate, controlled, and scalable before launch.
Lead accounting analysis for complex structures under both US GAAP and IFRS standards, including treatment of dividends, splits, and balance sheet items.
Build the reporting framework for the issuer entity, including annual audited IFRS financial statements, local regulatory filings, and support for external audits.
Establish control environment and governance for a regulated launch, encompassing audit trails, books and records management, and data integrity across on-chain and off-chain systems.
Identify accounting, controls, and reporting risks early in the development process and ensure appropriate ownership and mitigation plans are established.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CA, or equivalent credential strongly preferred.
Substantial accounting or finance experience in a regulated environment such as capital markets, broker-dealer operations, exchange, custody, clearing, or digital assets.
Direct experience working with financial regulators, including handling inquiries, examinations, or regulatory filings.
Demonstrated ability to apply accounting standards and rules to new or complex financial products.
Experience building new finance processes and systems for new products, entities, or regulatory regimes.
Strong controls mindset with ability to influence system design and architecture prior to launch.
Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with clear communication and familiarity with FSRA regulatory framework.
Competency in using generative AI tools responsibly in daily workflows with continuous learning and human-in-the-loop practices.
