  • Build and operate services in production cloud environments using C#, .NET Core, and AWS infrastructure.
  • Tackle legacy system challenges, database scalability issues, and modernize service interfaces and APIs to improve overall architecture.
  • Implement automated processes and apply test-driven and trunk-based development practices to enhance code quality and deployment velocity.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders to ensure alignment and provide regular updates on progress and technical decisions.
  • Mentor team members and foster an inclusive culture through thoughtful feedback and collaborative participation in planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proficient backend development experience with one or more languages such as C#, .NET, Java, or Go.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts including service-to-service communication, eventual consistency, and resilience patterns.
  • Practical experience working with relational databases where transactional data integrity and ACID principles are essential.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, automated testing, and continuous integration pipelines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to manage internal stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Interest in leveraging modern artificial intelligence tools to enhance productivity and streamline engineering workflows.

What makes this role worth considering

You will work on foundational systems that directly impact Xero’s global product velocity, collaborating across a distributed team in Wellington and Vancouver.
