Role overview

Kepler Communications operates a constellation of optical data relay satellites that deliver real-time connectivity for space-based missions. We are seeking an FPGA Digital Design Engineer to develop advanced digital systems for our next-generation satellite platforms, working within our Toronto-based engineering team.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement FPGA code for digital signal processing algorithms that modulate and demodulate signals within our software-defined radio systems.
Develop FPGA logic for embedded systems that interface with processors and peripheral devices on satellite platforms.
Execute the complete FPGA design workflow including simulation, synthesis, placement and routing, and timing closure.
Conduct hardware testing to validate FPGA implementations on satellite systems.
Collaborate with a team of spacecraft engineers throughout the design and development lifecycle.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience in FPGA design and development across the full design flow.
Strong knowledge of digital signal processing concepts and implementation on FPGA platforms.
Proficiency in embedded systems design with experience interfacing FPGA logic to processors and peripherals.
Solid understanding of FPGA-specific development complexities and best practices.
