Role overview

Scale AI is looking for a Growth Strategy & Operations Lead to manage the supply side of Outlier, its expert contributor marketplace. This role is central to ensuring that Scale can meet rapid customer demand for Generative AI projects by sourcing, onboarding, and routing highly skilled contributors such as PhDs, coders, and domain experts to the AI work that needs them most.

Key responsibilities

Drive growth initiatives that expand the pool of expert contributors available for Scale’s highest-priority Generative AI projects while collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Go-to-Market, and delivery teams.
Design and refine acquisition strategies and pipelines for recruiting expert contributors through channels including outbound recruitment, referrals, hackathons, partnerships, paid campaigns, and professional communities.
Enhance systems for onboarding, screening, verification, and training so that contributors can be quickly evaluated, activated, and ramped onto customer projects.
Oversee supply-side operations across the contributor lifecycle, managing activation, retention, churn reduction, skill validation, and project routing.
Build analytical frameworks and operational processes to forecast capacity needs, identify funnel bottlenecks, and ensure projects have enough qualified experts to meet delivery timelines.
Report regularly to Scale’s executive leadership on supply health, ramp progress, and growth initiatives with clear recommendations and decisions.

Requirements

At least five years of experience in growth, product, operations, or software engineering roles.
Background working with operations-intensive business models such as on-demand services, marketplaces, logistics, or supply chain operations.
Strong technical foundation with a STEM degree preferred; at minimum, proficiency in data analytics using SQL or Python.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability and analytical mindset, with experience tackling operational challenges or working in consulting roles.
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working through ambiguity while scaling new products or services from early stages.
Hands-on experience building and shipping with AI tools and workflows, with the ability to quickly learn new AI platforms as they emerge.
