Role overview
Practice Better is seeking an Intermediate DevOps Engineer to join its Engineering team. The company operates an all-in-one platform serving health and wellness practitioners across 70+ countries, combining electronic health records, practice management, and nutrition planning tools. This remote-based role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining the scalable infrastructure and systems that support the platform’s global operations.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure using automation tools and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Build and improve robust CI/CD pipelines that enable engineers to release software with minimal friction and high confidence.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance, availability, reliability, and security, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
- Participate in incident response efforts and post-incident analysis to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Define and enforce rigorous service-level agreements for availability, performance, and security across systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast capacity requirements and scale infrastructure to support growing demand while optimizing costs.
- Implement security best practices and compliance standards to ensure data and system integrity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Four to six or more years of experience in DevOps engineering or similar roles, with a proven track record building and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure systems.
- Hands-on DevOps and infrastructure experience at a SaaS company offering multi-tenant, subscription-based products.
- Strong scripting and programming skills, with proficiency in cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and hands-on experience with infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments.
- Expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, or similar platforms.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
