Role overview

Hootsuite is seeking a DevOps team lead to direct a team of Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps practitioners. In this position, you will balance hands-on technical work with people leadership, managing the delivery and execution of your team’s projects while ensuring the reliability and performance of Hootsuite’s cloud-based infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

Enable development teams by providing infrastructure interfaces and tools that support the complete software development lifecycle.
Manage the reliability, security, and integrity of large-scale cloud-based Linux infrastructure, including diagnosing and repairing distributed systems.
Implement infrastructure-as-code practices, runbooks, monitoring systems, and alerts to maintain platform stability.
Lead and collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to solve technical problems and improve systems and software.
Mentor direct team members and share best practices, ideas, and knowledge across the department.
Drive continuous improvement in team culture, processes, and strategic vision using agile methodologies.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support platform operations.

Requirements

A degree in Computer Science or Engineering with at least five years of professional experience in an SRE, DevOps, or software engineering role.
Demonstrated track record of substantial contributions to software projects with significant business impact.
Hands-on experience using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible to build and operate cloud infrastructure.
Strong background in cloud infrastructure design and operations with the ability to architect, build, and automate production cloud infrastructure.
Leadership and influence skills with the ability to oversee broad solutions, clarify complex problems, and champion process and technology improvements.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with the ability to deliver results through others and establish clear direction.
Demonstrated resilience, creativity, and ability to adapt to change and ambiguity while building inclusive, diverse teams.
