Role overview

Halter is transforming livestock management through innovative hardware solutions that enable farmers and graziers to operate more productively and sustainably. This player-coach role combines leadership of a process engineering team with hands-on involvement in manufacturing challenges, focusing on discrete hardware assembly at volume rather than plant operations or continuous processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a Production Process team through hiring, coaching, performance feedback and career progression.
  • Translate manufacturing strategy into clear quarterly priorities with defined ownership across the team.
  • Drive improvements in yield, quality, throughput and process capability across assembly lines.
  • Establish standards for process validation, control plans, work instructions, training protocols and reaction procedures.
  • Collaborate with the contract manufacturer and internal teams to ensure manufacturing changes are implemented quickly and safely in production.
  • Coach engineers to approach problems from first principles and develop data-backed recommendations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading a team of engineers in a high-volume discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on process engineering expertise, including taking processes from validation through to stable production.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers or managing operations across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated coaching ability that sets clear standards and supports engineer development.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time, including trips to Thailand.

What makes this role worth considering

You’ll join a team solving genuinely meaningful problems in an industry undergoing transformation. The technical work spans electronics and mechanical assembly including adhesive bonding, ultrasonic welding, sealing and leak testing, with exposure to pFMEA, control plans, validation protocols and statistical process control on a fast-growing product line built with an Asian contract manufacturer. Halter’s culture emphasizes autonomy, continuous learning and tackling complex challenges as part of a diverse, driven team.
