Role overview
BEUMER Group, a global leader in intralogistics systems for material handling and distribution, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join its Calgary-based Project Engineering & Integration teams for a 4-month term starting in January 2027. You will work on Mineral and Mining projects, applying classroom knowledge to real-world mechanical design and engineering challenges while collaborating with experienced professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Support the engineering team in addressing mechanical design challenges and conducting engineering analysis.
- Participate in the design and development of mechanical components for industrial equipment.
- Create and develop AutoCAD drawings and 3D models using industry-standard software.
- Prepare engineering documentation including drawings, layouts, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with project management, procurement, and cross-functional teams to advance project delivery.
- Provide fabrication and technical support to vendors for equipment-related work.
- Attend design reviews and team meetings to contribute ideas and learn best practices from experienced colleagues.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles and strong technical knowledge.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Inventor or equivalent design software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and create sketches.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical reasoning abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with professional demeanor and teamwork orientation.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada at the time of application.
