Role overview
Geotab is a global leader in IoT and connected transportation, processing billions of data points daily to help businesses manage fleets and improve driver safety. As a Product Security Specialist, you will conduct comprehensive security evaluations across Geotab’s internal and external products, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities while collaborating with development teams to embed security throughout the product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Perform security reviews using static and dynamic scanners, manual code analysis, and architectural assessments across multiple codebases including C#, .NET, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Swift, Kotlin, Python, C, and firmware.
- Validate scanner findings by tracing source code and provide developer-level recommendations for vulnerability remediation.
- Write and maintain automation scripts in Bash and Python to generate scan inputs, execute security scanners, and integrate them with CI pipelines and Google Cloud storage systems.
- Conduct security testing including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, threat modeling, and code reviews, then communicate findings to both technical developers and non-technical management audiences.
- Contribute to developing secure coding standards and training materials for current and future development teams.
- Support the design and implementation of secure architectures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and security-by-design principles.
- Monitor emerging security threats, manage follow-up on identified issues, and lead or contribute to initiatives that improve overall product security posture.
Requirements
- Five to eight years of professional experience in security evaluation, security code reviews, or related development roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Demonstrated experience using source code, dynamic, and dependency scanners such as Veracode, Fortify, Sentinel, OWASP Dependency Check, NetSparker, or Qualys.
- Working knowledge of programming languages including C, C#, .NET, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript, along with familiarity with web service technologies such as XML, JSON, SOAP, and REST.
- Competency with Linux, Windows, Google Compute Engine, Bash, and Python scripting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
