Role overview

Greenhouse is seeking a Vice President of Security to lead company-wide security strategy and execution across product security, corporate security, and information security. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this leader will oversee the Security team and protect candidate and employee data while advising executive leadership and the Board on security posture and risk as the company scales.

Key responsibilities

Define and own the security strategy, multi-year roadmap, operating model, budget, and investment priorities for the organization.
Lead a multidisciplinary security organization spanning product security, corporate security, and information security, building it to leverage automation and modern workflows at scale.
Build and develop a strong leadership bench through hiring, coaching, succession planning, and career development.
Own the company’s security risk posture, including enterprise and third-party risk, and oversee compliance and assurance programs such as SOC 1, SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and ISO 42001.
Lead security response for serious incidents, from detection through executive, customer, and regulatory communications.
Establish governance for how artificial intelligence is used across the company, including acceptable-use policies, data handling standards, and auditability requirements.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal, Privacy, and Finance on secure-by-default design and represent security with the Board, customers, and industry audiences.

Requirements

Minimum 12 years of experience in security, including at least 5 years leading a multidisciplinary security organization.
Prior experience as a Head of Security, CISO, Vice President of Security, or comparable senior security leadership role.
Experience owning end-to-end security programs and scaling security organizations through significant growth at B2B SaaS or consumer technology companies.
Demonstrated expertise across security operations, cloud security, product security, identity and access management, risk, compliance, and incident response.
Experience leading serious security incidents in partnership with Legal, communications, and regulators.
Experience securing cloud environments such as AWS and Kubernetes, and working with modern identity standards including Okta, OpenID Connect, or SAML.
Experience presenting security posture and material risks to executive leadership and a Board.
