Role overview
Later is an AI-powered influencer marketing platform used by major brands including Nike, Wayfair, Unilever, and Southwest Airlines. As a Senior AI Automation Engineer, you will work across the organization to identify manual, repetitive work and replace it with durable AI-powered automations. This role bridges engineering, consulting, and coaching—you’ll build solutions that move the needle quickly while helping non-technical teams develop their own automation capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Embed with teams across Operations, Finance, Marketing, Customer Success, and other departments to understand their workflows and identify high-impact automation opportunities.
- Build and ship working automations and internal tools using AI-native platforms, APIs, scripting, and other pragmatic approaches, prioritizing speed to value.
- Harden prototype solutions into production-ready automations with proper reliability, observability, error handling, and documentation for unattended operation.
- Coach non-technical colleagues on building their own automations, review their work, and run enablement sessions to grow automation skills across the organization.
- Identify patterns across teams and create reusable components, templates, and frameworks that compound automation leverage organization-wide.
- Partner with Engineering and IT on platform decisions that support scalable, durable automation infrastructure.
- Develop and communicate a point of view on Later’s automation roadmap and high-leverage opportunities for leadership.
Requirements
- Proven track record building and shipping automations, internal tools, or AI-powered workflows that delivered measurable business impact.
- Strong fluency with modern AI tooling including large language models, agents, retrieval-augmented generation, and prompt design, plus comfort wiring together APIs and no-code/low-code platforms.
- Business-first mindset that starts with the problem and user rather than the technology, with ability to sharpen non-technical partners’ problem definitions.
- Bias to action and resourcefulness, with demonstrated ability to ship working versions in days rather than months and iterate from there.
- Judgment about when solutions are good enough as one-offs versus when they need to be built for organization-wide use.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical audiences and coach others effectively.
- Experience in internal tools, RevOps, BizOps, or similar applied AI/automation contexts.
What makes this role worth considering
You’ll have regular exposure to senior leadership and visibility into how Later operates across its multiple business lines. This is a high-leverage position where you solve real business problems rather than abstract technical challenges, and you’ll build both immediate wins and long-term organizational capability by enabling colleagues to automate their own workflows.
