Role overview

This position supports Aldar’s purchasing operations by overseeing vendor management, strategic sourcing activities, and contractor performance monitoring. The role ensures that procurement processes align with Aldar’s strategic framework while maintaining relationships with an approved network of suppliers and service providers across the UAE construction sector.

Key responsibilities

Review and classify prequalifications for consultants, contractors, and service providers according to established expertise and organisational criteria.
Maintain and update Aldar’s approved vendors list to enable stakeholder access, pricing enquiries, and current market rate collection.
Apply strategic sourcing methodology to typical construction products and materials such as tiles, joinery, air conditioning units, and white goods.
Request and manage Expressions of Interest from selected vendors for construction works and services.
Conduct market research to identify adequate and innovative design solutions for project requirements.
Monitor main sub-contractor performance throughout construction contracts and produce periodic spend analysis by category and vendor.
Ensure vendor compliance with Department of Economy approvals and Abu Dhabi Municipality requirements and classifications.

Requirements

Minimum 6 years of experience leading a procurement or sourcing function.
Bachelor degree in engineering or contract management.
Solid understanding of construction project site operations, costs, estimation techniques, and rate analysis.
Proficiency with Excel, database systems, and estimating software.
Knowledge of construction items and prevailing market rates.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines; formal contractual dispute resolution training is highly preferred.
