About the Business System Leader Role
What You’ll Do
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Business System Leader to guide the evolution and rollout of the Johnson Controls Business System across the EMEA region. This strategically significant role involves working closely with senior leadership to convert business strategy into actionable execution, strengthen organizational capabilities, and drive sustained, measurable performance gains.
Acting as both a coach to leaders and an architect of system excellence, you will be instrumental in embedding Lean methodologies, reinforcing operational discipline, and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.
How You’ll Do It
- Champion and continuously refine the Johnson Controls Business System throughout the EMEA Domain.
- Collaborate closely with the Domain VP/GM to align business system deployment with strategic goals, or take end-to-end ownership of streamlining a Core Value Stream.
- Serve as a system steward and cultural architect, promoting consistency, discipline, and maturity across the Domain.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Business System Leaders, enhancing both their Lean expertise and leadership skills.
- Deliver hands-on coaching in Kaizen leadership, structured problem-solving, and performance execution.
- Cultivate a strong succession pipeline of high-performing Business System Leader talent.
- Work with Domain leadership to build, prioritize, and manage the Kaizen funnel in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of improvement initiatives that generate meaningful business impact.
- Drive execution discipline and hold teams accountable for delivering measurable outcomes.
- Set and uphold rigorous standards for structured problem-solving, including A3 thinking, root cause validation, and countermeasure effectiveness.
- Coach leaders to address root causes rather than surface-level symptoms, shifting focus from activity to genuine impact.
- Conduct thorough reviews to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability in problem-solving approaches.
- Turn strategy into action through effective planning and Kaizen activation.
- Deliver measurable results across growth, productivity, margin, cash flow, and customer experience.
- Partner with senior leadership to uncover opportunities and eliminate systemic barriers to execution.
- Ensure effective deployment of Daily Management systems, clearly linking KPIs, strategy, and improvement efforts.
- Drive standardization of visual management practices, accountability routines, and escalation procedures.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance the effectiveness and maturity of the business system.
- Ensure consistent JCBS deployment across functions, regions, and value streams.
- Lead end-to-end value stream optimization efforts, eliminating siloed improvement initiatives.
- Align digital transformation initiatives with Lean principles to avoid automating inefficiencies.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Substantial experience in Lean, Business System, or Operational Excellence leadership, ideally with regional or enterprise-level scope.
- A proven history of delivering sustained, measurable business impact within complex, matrixed organizations.
- Experience influencing and collaborating with senior executives at VP/GM level and above.
- A track record of successfully leading large-scale transformation and capability-building initiatives.
- Strong experience developing and leading other leaders, with the ability to serve as a coach of leaders.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
- A strategic mindset paired with strong execution and operational discipline.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
- Lean certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent.
- Familiarity with digital transformation tools and analytics that support operational excellence.
