Role overview

As a Senior Engineer on the Enterprise Platforms team at Xero, you will provide technical leadership across the platforms, integrations, automations, and AI tools that enable Xero’s global operations. You will work to ensure these systems remain secure, reliable, scalable, and user-friendly while guiding your team through complex technical challenges from planning to implementation.

Key responsibilities

Enhance enterprise SaaS platforms, cloud services, and internal automation workflows by leveraging APIs and modern platform capabilities.
Design, develop, and support integrations, data migrations, and AI-enabled workflows that safely connect internal systems.
Investigate complex technical incidents, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes to maintain production system stability.
Create documentation, runbooks, policies, and reusable design patterns to enable consistent platform management across the organization.
Collaborate with Platform Leads to improve technical standards, reduce system complexity, and build solutions that streamline daily workflows.
Work alongside Product Managers, Analysts, Security, Architecture, and Operations teams to deliver practical internal solutions.

Requirements

Strong background in building, configuring, and supporting cloud services or enterprise SaaS platforms.
Practical experience creating integrations, automations, and system workflows using APIs, scripting, and modern tools.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose technical incidents, resolve root causes, and maintain reliable production environments.
Talent for translating business and user needs into clear, secure, and practical technical solutions.
Expertise applying security guidelines, access controls, and change management principles within live systems.
Skill in mentoring team members, sharing technical knowledge, and communicating complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
