Role overview

Halter is seeking a Senior or Lead Mobile Engineer to drive native iOS development for their grazing management platform. The company enables farmers and graziers to revolutionize livestock management through innovative technology, and you’ll play a key role in elevating the mobile experience as the platform scales.

Key responsibilities

Lead the architecture and implementation of core features for the Halter app, emphasizing deep native integration and high-performance components.
Collaborate with React front-end engineers to ensure seamless and performant interoperability across the mobile codebase.
Work with Design and Product teams to make informed trade-offs and ship impactful mobile features quickly.
Optimize mobile app performance across all dimensions, including metrics analysis and improvements to user experience and battery efficiency.
Build resilient functionality and error handling tailored to real-world field conditions, with a focus on offline-first capabilities.
Develop and expand the mobile design system and UI patterns for consistency across the app.
Mentor and upskill existing React engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

Deep expertise in iOS native development with strong opinions on mobile architecture and systems for optimal native experiences.
Proven experience shipping complex, high-performance native iOS applications within cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of React Native and understanding of how it maps to the iOS platform.
Demonstrated excellence with App Store releases at scale, design systems, and mentoring mobile engineers.
Strong focus on performance optimization, developer experience, testing, accessibility, and code maintainability.
Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and taking absolute ownership of problems.
Experience with offline-first functionality is a strong advantage.
