Key responsibilities

  • Drive complex, multi-sprint technical initiatives from conception through deployment, managing scope, dependencies, and risks.
  • Design and operate high-performing, resilient backend services using Go, PHP, AWS, Kubernetes, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL to handle enterprise-scale workloads.
  • Write clean, production-grade Go code for new automation features while maintaining and improving core PHP services.
  • Conduct code reviews, lead technical design discussions, document architectural decisions, and establish service level objectives to minimize incidents.
  • Mentor and pair with engineers to guide their professional growth, while collaborating with Product and Design teams to inform roadmap decisions.
  • Balance strategic roadmap work with Tier-1 customer escalations and technical debt resolution, troubleshooting mission-critical production issues across the stack.

Requirements

  • Four to eight years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in Go and performance-driven batch processing systems, complemented by working knowledge of PHP.
  • Proven ability to design, build, and operate scalable microservices, distributed systems, and domain-driven architectures at enterprise scale.
  • Advanced, hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and database technologies including DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Strong grasp of testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end) and modern observability platforms such as Datadog for incident management and system health.
  • Excellent mentoring and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences and make sound decisions under uncertainty.
  • Based in Canada to provide seamless timezone coverage for North American enterprise customers alongside the Italy-based engineering team.
