Senior Social Media Project Manager (Contractor)

IT & Technology 🇫🇷 France US$91,435–$140,810/year 05 Sep 2026

The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a Senior Social Media Project Manager to join its Communications team on a one-year contract.

You’ll help keep social media campaigns and communications projects moving from planning through publication. The role involves working with people across social media, content, creative, design, video, PR, marketing and analytics.

A big part of the job is keeping different teams aligned — setting deadlines, tracking projects, spotting problems early and making sure work gets completed on time.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and coordinate social media campaigns and ongoing communications projects.
  • Manage several projects at the same time, including deadlines, milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate teams across content, creative, design, video, PR, marketing and analytics.
  • Run project kickoffs, progress meetings and review sessions.
  • Manage project workflows using Asana and Google Workspace.
  • Track dependencies, resources, risks and changing priorities.
  • Help remove roadblocks and resolve project issues.
  • Keep content and campaign work moving through review, approval and publication.
  • Create project documentation, dashboards and performance reports.
  • Help distributed teams work effectively across different time zones.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Review completed projects and help improve processes for future work.

What You Need

  • At least 4 years of experience in social media project management or a similar position.
  • At least 2 years working remotely with distributed teams.
  • Experience with Asana and Google Workspace.
  • Strong organization, planning, prioritization and time-management skills.
  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage risks, dependencies and changing priorities.
  • Comfortable working with people from different cultures and time zones.
  • Ability to solve problems and keep projects moving without needing direct authority over every team involved.
  • Comfortable dealing with uncertainty and changing requirements.

Experience with international organizations, nonprofit work or additional languages is a plus.

Remote Work & Eligibility

Although the position is remote, it isn’t open to applicants from every country. Wikimedia Foundation currently lists specific U.S. states and a number of countries where it can hire, including Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, among others. Applicants outside the U.S. generally need current work authorization in their country. The role also requires working within the UTC -6/-5 to UTC -3 time-zone range.

  • Remote-first work environment
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Employee assistance support
  • Inclusive and equitable workplace
  • Compensation adjusted according to location
  • One-year contract
