Role overview
BlueCat is a leader in Intelligent Network Operations, helping organizations manage and understand their networks through advanced systems that combine unified management with predictive insights. As a Senior Software Developer for the Cloud Platform, you will design and operate data infrastructure that processes network intelligence at scale, working on systems that combine foundational services with deep analytics to improve how teams manage network change and risk.
Key responsibilities
- Build and operate a data lake using ClickHouse, including designing ingestion pipelines, data models, partitioning strategies, and replication schemes.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and event-driven services that transport messages and data across the platform.
- Create data analytics jobs and APIs that make data accessible to product and application teams.
- Work with application teams to understand their data needs and recommend effective approaches to data design and access patterns.
- Enhance the performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency of data services, achieving measurable improvements in latency, throughput, and availability.
- Establish data protection, security, and privacy controls across data processing from edge to core systems.
- Develop using modern asynchronous Python and Golang, selecting other languages where appropriate.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation covering designs, evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals.
Requirements
- Five or more years of software engineering experience, including at least three years building data platforms or data-intensive distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with ClickHouse or comparable OLAP databases such as DuckDB, Druid, Pinot, or Trino, including data modeling, ingestion, and query performance tuning.
- Experience with data lake architectures and open formats like Parquet and Apache Iceberg on object storage systems.
- Strong production experience with Python (including async programming) and/or Golang.
- Experience with data processing and analytics tools such as Pandas, Polars, or DuckDB.
- Production experience building data pipelines on messaging or streaming systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis.
- Demonstrated ability to design and build REST APIs and distributed services.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and observability tools.
- Experience with AWS, or familiarity with GCP and Azure.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTPS protocols, plus distributed systems design principles.
- Working knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, Agile methodologies, testing strategies, and secure engineering.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
