Role overview

Hootsuite is seeking a Team Lead, Software Development to build and lead a high-performing engineering team focused on billing infrastructure and payment systems. In this role, you will partner closely with senior management to develop talented developers while overseeing the technical delivery of critical financial and subscription management features for the company’s social media platform.

Key responsibilities

Build and lead a cohesive team of developers, fostering collaboration and maintaining high technical standards across all projects.
Support team members’ professional growth through ongoing coaching, mentorship conversations, and career development discussions.
Participate actively in hiring and recruiting efforts to attract and onboard skilled software developers.
Assess work priorities, delegate tasks effectively, and encourage shared ownership of projects across the team.
Design, write, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable code while maintaining security, reliability, and performance standards.
Contribute to shaping the technical roadmap and architecture for billing infrastructure, account management, pricing, subscriptions, and payment processing systems.
Facilitate communication and information sharing across teams and portfolios to support alignment and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

A degree in Computer Science or Engineering, plus at least five years of professional experience designing, developing, and maintaining software systems, or equivalent work experience demonstrating substantial contributions to high-impact software projects.
Proficiency in Go, Scala, or a similar programming language, with willingness to learn additional technologies and programming paradigms.
Solid understanding of distributed systems and experience working in high-availability environments.
Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and pair programming with colleagues.
Experience with SaaS software development practices and familiarity with SaaS product development is strongly preferred.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with ability to prioritize group goals and contribute meaningfully to team outcomes.
Problem-solving ability using organized, logical approaches to complex technical challenges, along with resilience in managing change and ambiguity.
