Role overview

Later is an AI-powered influencer marketing platform trusted by major brands like Nike, Wayfair, Unilever, and Southwest Airlines. As VP of User Experience, you will lead design strategy and execution across Later’s entire product portfolio, including Later Influence, Later Social, and Mavely, while building and mentoring a team of 5–6 UX designers. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you’ll partner with over 100 engineers and approximately 10 product managers to create cohesive, scalable user experiences that drive both creative and commercial outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Embed as a hands-on principal contributor on Later’s most critical product initiatives, moving beyond traditional wireframing to rapidly prototype and validate ideas in the browser.
• Pioneer agentic UX workflows and AI-native design patterns, building functional prototypes that integrate generative AI across the product portfolio and establishing standards for human-in-the-loop interactions and AI trust mechanisms.
• Lead and mentor a team of UX designers by fostering an AI-native, builder-first culture that replaces static mockups with rapid, near-working prototypes and upskills designers in prompt engineering and computational design thinking.
• Partner closely with the CPO, CTO, and product managers to align design investment with company strategy, compress discovery cycles through AI-driven analysis, and translate customer insights into prioritized design roadmaps.
• Set design standards and patterns across all product lines, identifying structural gaps that isolated teams would miss and implementing design tokens and AI-assisted design-to-code pipelines to reduce friction between design intent and shipped reality.
• Champion accessibility, usability, and craft quality across every product surface while balancing speed and polish to keep Later moving fast without fragmenting the experience.
• Build a repeatable, lightweight approach to user research that grounds design decisions in real customer and creator behavior, translating usage data into priorities connected to measurable product and business outcomes.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and mentoring design teams, with demonstrated success building high-performing organizations and developing design talent at scale.
• Strong background in systems thinking and product design, with the ability to see connections across multiple product lines and establish cohesive design patterns and processes.
• Hands-on design and prototyping skills, including comfort moving rapidly from concept to functional browser-based prototypes and collaborating directly with engineers.
• Familiarity with or willingness to quickly master AI and agentic design patterns, including prompt engineering, human-in-the-loop workflows, and computational design practices.
• Experience partnering effectively with product, engineering, and executive leadership to align design with business strategy and drive delivery across large organizations.
• Strong foundation in user research, usability best practices, and accessibility standards, with the ability to ground design decisions in customer behavior and data.
