Web Developer
Role overview
Cohere is a security-first enterprise AI company building foundation models and products for real-world business applications. The Web team develops cohere.com, serving as the public-facing platform for the company. In this role, you’ll collaborate with engineers, designers, and marketing partners to ship polished, growth-focused web experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Build and iterate on user-facing UI pages, focusing on styling, layout, and content-driven design that supports business growth.
- Work directly with content editors to improve publishing workflows, designing clearer schemas and reducing friction in the editorial process.
- Develop experiments and marketing features that help users discover and engage with Cohere’s products.
- Construct web applications using Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, including Sanity schemas that power the website infrastructure.
- Optimize performance and reliability on metrics that meaningfully impact user experience rather than pursuing technology for its own sake.
- Use AI coding tools as a daily resource while maintaining ownership and understanding of the code you ship.
- Partner with design and marketing teams to deliver polished results and leave the codebase in better condition than you found it.
Requirements
- At least two years of professional experience shipping production React and TypeScript applications with attention to polish and performance.
- Proficiency with Next.js and familiarity with headless CMS platforms such as Sanity, or ability to learn these technologies quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with design and marketing teams on cross-functional projects.
- Pragmatic approach to tools and frameworks, evaluating them based on project needs rather than trends.
- User-centric mindset focused on delivering strong end results over framework choices.
- Experience with design, motion, portfolio work, or shipped marketing projects is a bonus.
- Familiarity with monorepos (pnpm/Turborepo) or Vercel deployment is advantageous but not required.
What makes this role worth considering
Cohere offers comprehensive benefits including six weeks of paid vacation, full health and dental coverage, 100% parental leave top-up for six months, and an annual enrichment budget for arts, fitness, learning, and workspace improvements. You’ll have access to a $500 home office stipend and co-working benefits if remote, plus travel budgets to visit the company’s offices across Toronto, London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, and Seoul. The role allows you to work with a small, focused team shipping real products for an AI-focused enterprise.
