Role overview

Cohere is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join the Agentic Platform team. You will work at the intersection of Cohere’s North AI workspace platform and enterprise customers, designing and deploying large language model-powered agents that solve complex, real-world business problems in highly regulated industries. This role combines early-stage prototyping with production-grade system reliability, requiring you to bridge technical depth with customer partnership.

Key responsibilities

Partner directly with enterprise customers to understand high-value business challenges and translate them into well-scoped agentic workflows with measurable success criteria.
Lead the design and delivery of LLM-powered agents that integrate with enterprise tools, APIs, and data sources while maintaining reliability and performance at production scale.
Build and ship features for the North platform across the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through production deployment.
Own use cases end-to-end, taking responsibility for scoping, design, and delivery while stepping into whichever technical domain the problem requires.
Develop and contribute reusable frameworks and patterns that improve consistency and quality across customer engagements and the broader team.
Establish clarity in ambiguous situations, build alignment across stakeholders, and elevate engineering standards across the organization.
Travel to customer sites for on-site collaboration, with anticipated travel between 20 and 40 percent annually.

Requirements

Hands-on production experience building and deploying software in Python, with demonstrated ability to write clean, testable, observable, and scalable code.
Proven track record designing and deploying retrieval-augmented generation and agentic applications, including agents capable of multi-step planning and execution using patterns such as ReAct or Plan-and-Execute.
Deep familiarity with the LLM stack including frontier models, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
Experience building robust evaluation frameworks that move beyond trial-and-error approaches to measure agent accuracy, safety, and latency.
Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers and lead technical conversations with enterprise stakeholders, translating ambiguous business requirements into concrete technical specifications.
Proven experience owning the full scope of a use case from inception to delivery.
Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and execute effectively as priorities shift.
