Role overview

As Head of Banking Operations at Satispay, you will oversee the movement, settlement, and reconciliation of customer funds at scale. Satispay is a financial services platform working to make banking more accessible and user-friendly across payments, benefits, investing, and cards.

Key responsibilities

Own and manage payment infrastructure across SEPA, TARGET, domestic schemes, securities and fund rails, and card money flows, ensuring compliance with scheme rules and handling foreign exchange where needed.
Establish daily reconciliation processes for all client money, assigning ownership of breaks with documented root causes and maintaining visibility into unreconciled amounts, their age, and potential costs.
Drive operational scale and efficiency through process improvement and automation rather than headcount growth, reducing payment failures, manual steps, transaction costs, and operational losses.
Prepare new products for launch by establishing appropriate accounts, payment rails, and controls from day one.
Manage relationships with banks, processors, and other critical partners, maintaining tested backup systems for each critical dependency.
Serve as the company’s payments expert, providing accurate explanations to Customer Operations and supporting regulatory compliance.
Build, hire, structure, and develop the Banking Operations team through mentoring and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Deep expertise in European payment infrastructure, including SEPA rulebooks, R-transactions, card schemes, processing, SWIFT, and TARGET, with demonstrated delivery of at least one major scheme migration.
Hands-on experience with securities, custody, or fund operations.
Proven operations leadership running (not supervising) operations in a licensed institution such as a bank, electronic money institution, or payment processor.
Demonstrated ownership of reconciliation processes with a track record of identifying and resolving breaks and reducing operational losses.
Successful experience hiring, structuring, and developing operations teams.
Track record of scaling operations through automation and process improvement during significant volume growth.
Fluent English; Italian is advantageous. Willingness to relocate to Luxembourg is required.
