Role overview

Lightspeed is seeking a Legal Operations and Automation Manager to build and manage the company’s legal technology infrastructure and automation initiatives. You will serve as the architect of the legal team’s tech stack, designing streamlined workflows that replace time-consuming manual processes. This role requires partnering across legal, IT, sales, and revenue operations to implement AI-driven solutions and process improvements.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze legal team workflows and activities to identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Prioritize automation projects based on business value, risk mitigation, time savings, and impact on stakeholders.
  • Design, build, and test end-to-end automated workflows using tools such as Spellbook, IronClad, and Glean.
  • Create custom intake forms, conditional routing rules, and automated document generation templates to streamline legal processes.
  • Establish performance tracking through key performance indicators such as cycle times, cost and time savings, error rates, and adoption metrics to measure return on investment.
  • Develop best practices and playbooks to help the legal team use AI tools effectively without requiring technical expertise.
  • Work with lawyers, paralegals, and business partners to gather requirements, validate solutions, and drive adoption of new automated systems.

Requirements

  • Two to five years of experience in legal operations, systems engineering, process improvement, systems implementation, or automation development.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and configuring workflow automations and integrations rather than simply using existing tools.
  • Knowledge of modern AI tools and prompt engineering, with the ability to evaluate whether to build or buy technology solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical legal and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with capacity to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience coaching and enabling colleagues and stakeholders to adopt new processes and tools.
  • Fluency in English as a working language.
