Legal Operations & Automations Manager
Role overview
Lightspeed is seeking a Legal Operations & Automations Manager to serve as the primary architect of the legal department’s technology stack, internal processes, and automation initiatives. You will work across the legal team, IT, Sales, and RevOps to replace manual, time-intensive tasks with streamlined, automated workflows that enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
Key responsibilities
- Map and analyze daily legal team activities to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Prioritize automation projects based on business value, risk mitigation, time savings, and stakeholder impact.
- Design, build, and test end-to-end automated workflows using tools such as Spellbook, IronClad, and Glean.
- Create custom intake forms, conditionally routed approval processes, and automated document generation templates.
- Build reusable templates and automation libraries to standardize processes across the legal team.
- Establish performance metrics and KPIs to track automation ROI, including cycle times, cost savings, error rates, and adoption rates.
- Develop AI best practices and practical playbooks to help legal team members use AI tools effectively without technical expertise.
Requirements
- Two to five years of experience in legal operations, systems engineering, process improvement, systems implementation, or automation development.
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and configure workflow automations and integrations rather than simply operate existing systems.
- Familiarity with modern AI tools, prompt engineering, and the ability to evaluate build-versus-buy technology decisions.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical legal and business stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience coaching and enabling colleagues and stakeholders to adopt new processes.
- Fluency in English as a working language.
