Role overview

Later is an AI-powered influencer marketing platform trusted by major brands including Nike, Wayfair, Unilever, and Southwest Airlines. As a Senior Engineer (Platform), you will lead large-scale technical projects, drive architectural improvements, and mentor engineers while maintaining high standards across the platform. This role combines strategic technical leadership with hands-on development, shaping how the platform scales and innovates.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement scalable, secure service architectures while identifying opportunities for platform-wide improvements and technical debt reduction.
Build backend services using C# with functional programming paradigms or TypeScript for web and background worker applications.
Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases, with preference for PostgreSQL expertise, implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
Serve as the expert for debugging, troubleshooting, and ensuring system reliability across the backend stack.
Mentor junior engineers through coaching, code review, and collaborative development to elevate team skills and technical standards.
Collaborate across teams to define requirements, scope projects, and deliver solutions that meet both technical and business objectives.
Champion engineering best practices, stay current on emerging technologies in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, and contribute to evolving Agile workflows.

Requirements

Seven to ten years of progressive software engineering experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Strong proficiency or ability to quickly develop expertise in typed, functional programming using C# or TypeScript.
Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, preferably with PostgreSQL expertise.
Proven experience designing secure, scalable, and maintainable platform architectures and system designs.
Demonstrated expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms), Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
Deep knowledge of application and infrastructure security best practices, testing automation, and performance optimization techniques.
Proficiency in Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, with excellent communication skills and strategic problem-solving ability in complex, ambiguous environments.
