Role overview
BlueCat is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to serve as the FP&A business partner for Sales, Professional Services, Customer Success, and Marketing leadership. The company provides intelligent network operations platforms that help enterprises manage and secure their network infrastructure. This role sits at the center of strategic financial planning and decision-making for these critical business functions.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with Sales, Professional Services, Customer Success, and Marketing leaders to answer financial questions around spending, headcount, performance, and trade-offs, providing analysis to support investment decisions, hiring plans, program ROI assessment, and pricing strategy.
- Own monthly variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast for assigned functions, identify key drivers, and lead monthly review meetings with each business partner.
- Lead the reforecast cycle for your functions, managing headcount projections, variable costs, commissions, and program spending with clearly documented assumptions aligned to company-wide forecasts.
- Prepare Board, sponsor, and executive reporting including performance commentary, KPI dashboards, and ad hoc analysis on tight timelines to a high standard.
- Support the annual budget process by documenting financial assumptions and working with leaders to translate their strategic plans into detailed financial projections.
- Build and maintain commercial and unit-economics metrics such as customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, bookings attainment, renewal rates, Professional Services utilization, and hardware margins, presenting them as trusted recurring views for leadership.
- Collaborate with Sales, RevOps, and Finance teams on sales commission plan design, cost modeling, and attainment tracking to ensure plans drive intended behavior while meeting financial targets.
- Identify inefficient and manual workflows in FP&A processes, redesign them for better speed and accuracy, and experiment with AI tools and automation to improve analysis, commentary, and reporting capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Four to six years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or business partnering, with SaaS or technology company experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with strong understanding of SaaS metrics including ARR, bookings, retention, and customer acquisition and lifetime value economics.
- Clear written and verbal communication ability, capable of explaining complex financial results to non-finance leaders and the Board, writing concise commentary, and building trust with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to transform data into clear recommendations and present confidently to senior leaders, with a track record of responsiveness and quick turnaround on questions and requests.
- Knowledge of how Sales, Marketing, Professional Services, and Customer Success functions operate within SaaS businesses.
- Self-starter mentality with comfort navigating ambiguity, taking ownership of outcomes, and building processes from the ground up rather than simply executing existing ones, along with curiosity and hands-on willingness to use AI and automation tools.
