Role overview

Wealthsimple, Canada’s leading financial technology company serving over 4 million Canadians with more than $155 billion in assets under administration, is seeking a Senior Software Developer for its Post-Trade Management team. In this remote position based in Canada, you will build and maintain the software systems that handle clearing, settlement, and reconciliation across multiple external depositories, ensuring smooth post-trade processing for billions of dollars in transactions.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement post-trade automations across depositories to support both new product launches and existing offerings.
Contribute to technical design decisions that shape the direction and architecture of the post-trade processing pipeline.
Mentor fellow developers through pair programming, code reviews, and real-time feedback to strengthen team capabilities.
Work directly with Securities Operations, Product Management, and other engineering teams to understand business requirements and deliver solutions aligned with organizational goals.
Leverage artificial intelligence tools to accelerate development efforts and explore innovative approaches to problem-solving.
Ensure high standards of correctness, auditability, and accuracy across systems handling sensitive financial data.

Requirements

Extensive backend software development experience with a demonstrated focus on Ruby on Rails.
Proven experience designing and delivering complex automations or data pipelines in production environments.
Demonstrated ability to work with high-stakes, high-accuracy systems where precision and compliance are critical.
Experience mentoring other engineers through code review, pair programming, or direct feedback.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including operations, product, and engineering partners.
Experience with Java or Kotlin, front-end frameworks like React, or infrastructure tools such as Oracle, Postgres, Kubernetes, or AWS.
Background in fintech, exposure to ledger systems, brokerage operations, custody, clearing, or settlement processes.
