Role overview

Wave is seeking a Senior Analyst for Fraud Prevention & Detection to join its Risk department in Canada. In this hands-on role, you will work to protect Wave’s small business customers by identifying fraud patterns, evaluating existing controls, and developing stronger prevention and detection strategies across the company’s digital and payment services.

Key responsibilities

Analyze account activity, transaction behavior, payment flows, and risk signals to spot emerging fraud threats and patterns.
Evaluate current fraud controls and recommend practical improvements to prevention and detection systems.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Compliance, Customer Care, and Operations teams to enhance rules, scoring models, decisioning logic, alerting systems, vendor tools, and real-time detection capabilities.
Deliver clear analysis and actionable recommendations that produce measurable improvements in fraud outcomes.
Work to reduce fraud losses, improve fraud capture rates, lower false positives, and decrease the volume of cases requiring manual review.
Balance fraud prevention efforts with maintaining a positive customer experience and operational efficiency.

Requirements

Strong fraud expertise and a solid understanding of fraud risk landscapes.
Demonstrated analytical rigor and ability to work with case trends, model outputs, and other complex risk data.
Ability to turn ambiguous fraud signals into clear, actionable recommendations.
Capacity to learn quickly and work with urgency in a dynamic environment.
Skill in collaborating effectively across multiple departments and translating findings for different audiences.
