Community Hospice is looking for a Van Driver to help move donations, furniture, clothing and other goods between its shops, warehouses and Hospice locations.
You’ll be responsible for making collections and deliveries safely and on time, keeping the vehicle in good condition, and helping the warehouse and retail teams manage the movement of stock.
The job also involves handling donated items carefully, including fragile and confidential goods, helping with sorting donations when needed, and taking rubbish and recycling to the appropriate disposal facilities.
You’ll work alongside staff and volunteers and may also support other projects as required.
Main Duties
- Collect and deliver stock, furniture, clothing and donated goods.
- Move furniture between Hospice shops and storage locations.
- Help plan efficient daily delivery and collection routes.
- Load, unload and handle goods safely.
- Take extra care when transporting fragile items.
- Keep the van clean and report any defects or maintenance issues.
- Check basic vehicle items such as fuel, oil, water and tyre pressure.
- Help sort donations and merchandise when required.
- Transport confidential items securely.
- Handle rubbish and recycling from Hospice locations.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Work closely with staff, volunteers and the logistics team.
- Attend required training, including annual moving and handling training.
- Represent the Hospice professionally and provide good customer service.
