Role overview

Zip is an AI-powered enterprise procurement platform trusted by major companies including T-Mobile, OpenAI, and AMD. As Head of Business Data, you will lead the Business Intelligence and GTM Data Science functions for this rapidly scaling SaaS company, serving as the strategic bridge between go-to-market operations, finance, and the core product data engineering team during a critical phase of growth.

Key responsibilities

Define and execute the comprehensive data strategy for Zip, charting how the internal data ecosystem must evolve to support hyper-growth, new product lines, and global expansion.
Own the end-to-end dashboarding and reporting infrastructure, including the Executive Dashboard, GTM-focused dashboards, and operational views for customer-facing teams.
Establish a single source of truth across the enterprise by partnering with Finance, Revenue Operations, and Product to standardize and track critical SaaS metrics such as ARR, NDR, Gross Retention, CAC, and LTV through a robust semantic layer.
Architect the data foundations required to power AI capabilities, structuring and exposing usage and business data to enable programmatically generated, data-backed outputs for clients.
Collaborate with the Product Data Engineering team to ensure the business data layer is seamlessly integrated, performant, and reliable across the organization.
Deliver pristine, automated financial and operational reporting for the executive team, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of analytics engineers, BI developers, and data analysts.

Requirements

Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or analytics engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing managers.
Deep understanding of B2B SaaS business models, unit economics, and standard metrics, with proven experience navigating enterprise SaaS billing, Salesforce CRM data, and financial systems.
Deep expertise in the Modern Data Stack, particularly the analytics and BI layers including tools such as dbt, Looker, Tableau, and Sigma.
Strong foundation in data modeling, dimensional modeling, and establishing governed semantic layers.
Strategic understanding of how to structure, model, and serve data to power Large Language Models and embedded AI features.
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with highly technical engineering teams while translating complex data concepts into clear business narratives for C-level executives and investors.
Deep familiarity with GTM systems including Salesforce and Marketo, as well as back-office financial systems such as NetSuite and Stripe.
