Role overview

Wealthsimple, Canada’s leading financial innovator, is seeking a Manager for Brokerage Platform Operations focused on General Ledger. This role reports to the Director of Brokerage Account Operations and centers on managing and scaling the general ledger processes that underpin Wealthsimple’s brokerage services. You will work at the intersection of Operations, Finance, and Engineering to ensure ledger accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across a platform serving over 4 million Canadians with more than $155 billion in assets under administration.

Key responsibilities

Lead cross-functional initiatives to maintain accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and transactional reporting for all client data within the general ledger.
Investigate data anomalies and irregularities to identify root causes, then design and implement automated solutions that prevent recurrence.
Coordinate preparation for regulatory audits including SOC and FinOps engagements, while maintaining comprehensive documentation of operational procedures.
Monitor and oversee internal and external ledger transfer bookings to ensure timely processing and swift resolution of exceptions.
Partner with the Engineering team to automate manual workflows, reduce operational risk, and support the launch of new brokerage products.
Mentor team members and develop process improvements that eliminate manual work and single points of failure in brokerage operations.

Requirements

Minimum five years of professional experience in brokerage or broker-dealer accounting, finance operations, or general ledger management.
Hands-on, day-to-day experience operating an in-house or non-outsourced general ledger system.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical requirements to Engineering teams while explaining accounting principles to Finance stakeholders.
Direct experience supporting regulatory oversight processes such as Monthly Financial Reports or SOC audit coordination.
Proficiency with general ledger software systems such as Oracle GL or NetSuite is valued.
SQL experience is valued.
