About the Medical Laboratory Technician Role
This position is based at Thumbay Labs in Ajman, where the team is seeking a reliable professional capable of delivering consistent, accurate results while supporting smooth day-to-day laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all PSC specimens are collected accurately and within required timeframes.
- Collect specimens in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
- Complete all requisitions accurately and thoroughly.
- Contact clients to confirm handwritten orders, verify test details, handle cash collections, reconciliation, and submissions.
- Research test and client information using the lab computer system, Pathology Insight, and/or DOS.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by individual test orders.
- Properly package specimens for transport.
- Administer glucose, lactose, and d-xylose oral solutions in line with established training protocols.
- Maintain all required records and documentation.
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies and procedures, including Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, Automobile policies, Employee Handbook, and Quality Assurance Manual.
- Maintain accurate PSC/Phlebotomy logs.
- Assist in compiling monthly statistics and data, submitting reports on time.
- Perform basic clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, preparing mail, and electronic data entry.
- Submit accurate and timely time and travel logs as directed by management.
- Submit accurate expense forms on the required schedule, where applicable.
- Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and adherence to company and departmental codes of conduct.
- Report to work punctually, following attendance guidelines.
- Answer phone calls in a friendly, professional manner, incorporating the company name and offering helpful assistance.
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with clients, patients, coworkers, and the general public.
- Promptly report any unresolved issues to the appropriate Manager or Supervisor, maintaining politeness and professionalism at all times.
- Dispose of biohazard containers according to scheduled protocol.
- Assist with inventory management and other assigned tasks.
- Participate in team activities and special projects as needed.
- Help maintain clean, well-kept facilities, and notify supervisors of any necessary repairs or maintenance.
- Collaborate effectively with staff to ensure compliance with QA requirements, customer service standards, and SOPs, raising any concerns with supervisors as they arise.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required.
- 4–5 years of experience in a similar role.

- Proficiency in performing blood draws with minimal patient discomfort.
- Accurate specimen labeling and data entry into laboratory information systems.
- Ability to ensure correct patient identification and sample accuracy.
